Employee Spotlight: For MedAllyon’s Troy Dizon, Great Care Starts with Human Connection

By MedAllyon    |    October 6, 2026

For Troy Dizon, RN, some of the most meaningful moments in nursing happen when the hospital gets quiet.

Troy works the night shift as a Telemetry/Medical-Surgical registered nurse at a large health system in California, where he has supported patients through everything from strokes to cardiac surgery. At night, there are fewer visitors, fewer people moving through the halls, and often more opportunities to make a human connection with the patients under his care.

“If these patients weren’t sick, we could be friends,” Troy said.

Those conversations matter to him. They are also part of why Troy believes the human side of healthcare can never be replaced.

More Than Medicine

Troy has worked with MedAllyon since 2022, building experience across different areas of the hospital while caring for patients during some of their most vulnerable moments.

In his role with the Telemetry/Medical-Surgical unit , Troy typically cares for four patients at a time in a 16-bed cardiac surgery unit, where he supports patients before and after procedures. A typical shift may include administering medications, admitting new patients, preparing patients for surgery, supporting postoperative recovery, coordinating discharges, and closely monitoring patients whose conditions can change quickly.

His experience also allows him to step in where he is needed throughout the facility. Troy can be floated to other units based on patient and staffing needs, drawing on a background that includes several years in a stroke unit, where careful monitoring and recognizing subtle neurological changes are critical.

The clinical work requires expertise. But Troy believes exceptional nursing requires something else, too.

It requires paying attention to what a patient may need even when they do not say it.

“There are things you understand intuitively about what your patient needs,” Troy said. “That human side can’t be replaced.”

It is an approach that stands out to Ashley Robinson, MedAllyon’s Director of Client Delivery.

“Troy is such a strong example of what we hope to see in every MedAllyon clinician,” Robinson said. “He brings the clinical skill the role demands, but he also understands that great care is ultimately about people. We believe that when talented clinicians are matched with the right opportunities and have the support they need to succeed, they are better positioned to deliver exceptional care and stronger outcomes for patients. Troy embodies that every day.”

Why the Night Shift Fits

Troy was born in Houston, TX and also spent part of his life in the Philippines, where his father was a captain for Philippine Airlines.

His preference for working nights began, in part, with something practical. After experiencing heavy traffic in the Philippines in other jobs, Troy realized he liked commuting when most people were traveling in the opposite direction.

But nursing nights eventually gave him another reason to work the overnight shifts that many of his colleagues try to avoid.

Hospitals can look very different after normal business hours. During the day, physicians, staff members, visitors, procedures, and other activities can make units busy places. At night, Troy often has more space to connect directly with the people in his care.

Some patients struggle to sleep. Others simply want someone to talk to.

Troy hears about their families, their lives, and the things on their minds. After dinner, he helps patients settle in for the evening knowing that, despite the quieter halls, anything can happen and he needs to be ready.

Those moments have reinforced his belief that nursing is fundamentally about caring for a person, not simply treating a condition. To Troy, human connection is not separate from healing. It is part of it.

Growing Through Every Experience

Working at LAMC has also given Troy opportunities to broaden his clinical experience, including exposure within both a trauma center environment and a Magnet-recognized hospital.

That opportunity to keep learning is one of the biggest reasons he values his work with MedAllyon.

Financial opportunity matters, but Troy says the experience he gains is equally important. Working across specialties and encountering different patient needs helps him become a more capable nurse, deliver stronger care, and continue building his career.

When he talks with other nurses about his work, one of the questions he hears most often is simple:

“How did you find that job?”

For Troy, the answer is MedAllyon.

Support That Feels Personal

Being based on the West Coast while much of the MedAllyon team works on the East Coast could create challenges. Troy says that has never stopped him from getting the support he needs.

From a smooth onboarding experience to ongoing communication and coordination, he has consistently found the team responsive and attentive. Most conversations happen through email or text, but when Troy needs something, he says he gets an answer quickly.

He has worked with other agencies during his nursing career. MedAllyon feels different.

Instead of feeling like a number, Troy feels there is a personal connection with the people supporting him. Today, that includes Robinson, whom Troy credits as another important part of the positive experience he has had with the company.

For Robinson, that relationship is central to how MedAllyon approaches healthcare staffing.

“Our job does not end when a clinician starts an assignment,” Robinson said. “We want our people to know they have someone in their corner. When clinicians feel supported, they can stay focused on what matters most: taking care of their patients and continuing to grow in their careers.”

That relationship matters because Troy approaches his own work the same way.

Whether supporting an employee or caring for a patient, people want to know someone is paying attention. They want to feel heard, understood, and cared for.

Giving His Best in Return

After more than four years with the company, Troy has a simple message for the MedAllyon team: thank you.

He is grateful for the experiences, opportunities, and support he has received. He says he would not have continued working with MedAllyon if he were not happy with how he has been treated and the care the team has shown him.

His way of returning that support is to bring his best to the hospital every night.

For his patients. For his team. And for MedAllyon.

Because whether you are helping someone build a career or helping someone heal, Troy believes the human connection still matters most.
